PicoWay is a high-power laser that uses ultra – short pulses to target and shatter pigment in the skin. Rather than a photothermal (heat – based) approach, it works via a photoacoustic effect – meaning it uses energy and speed rather than heat to break down unwanted melanin.
Think of it like breaking a large rock into tiny grains of sand, the pigment is shattered into minuscule particles that are far easier for the body’s natural processes to clear away.

What to expect
- Most patients experience only mild stinging during the procedure, similar to the sensation of a rubber band hitting the skin.
- In the first few days post – treatment, lesions will darken slightly and then slough off naturally. Patients may experience temporary redness or discolouration around the treatment site.
- Downtime is typically redness on the day of treatment which goes down after a few hours.
- A month-long interval between treatments of the same area is generally recommended.
