This combination treatment pairs two of the most advanced light-based technologies available, working on two different levels of the skin simultaneously for a truly comprehensive result.
BBL HEROic uses pulsed light technology to target deeper concerns – broken capillaries, diffuse redness, and pigmentation across the face and body.
FRAX is a fractional non – ablative laser that resurfaces the skin to address superficial concerns – fine lines, wrinkles, crepey texture, sun damage, and overall collagen quality.
Together, they treat the full picture of skin ageing in a single session.
How the Treatment Works
We begin with BBL across the full face and neck, cauterising broken vessels, diffuse redness, and pigmentation. Numbing cream is then applied for around 20 minutes, before we move on to FRAX to address surface – level texture concerns. The whole experience is very manageable.
During the Treatment - Pain & Sensation
The BBL portion feels like a gentle elastic band snap against the skin and is very well-tolerated – numbing cream is not required for this stage. Once the numbing cream has been applied ahead of the FRAX, most clients find the treatment extremely comfortable, with only a mild stinging sensation.
Immediately After - What to Expect
You’ll leave the clinic looking quite pink and flushed. The skin will feel warm and sensitive – similar to a mild sunburn – with some redness and swelling present. This is entirely normal and a sign that the skin is beginning to regenerate.
The FRAX will also leave tiny grid – like marks across the skin. These are the microscopic treatment zones and are completely expected – not particularly visible, and easily covered with a tinted SPF or light make-up from around day two.
By days 2 – 3, some very small, superficial crusting may form in those grid formations. This is a normal and important part of the healing process – it’s worth planning your treatment around any significant events for this reason.
Aftercare - What to Avoid
- No sun exposure for at least 2 weeks post-treatment – SPF 50+ every single day is non-negotiable
- No fake tan before or after treatment
- No strenuous exercise or activities that cause excessive sweating for 24 – 48 hours
- Avoid hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms – excessive heat can increase inflammation and delay healing
- No retinol, acids, or active ingredients until the skin has fully healed
- Cleanse gently twice daily with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser – fingertips only, no scrubbing or exfoliating tools
- Keep the skin well moisturised – generously and often
