BBL HEROic is one of the most advanced broadband light devices in the industry. It uses pulsed light technology to target pigmentation, redness, and uneven skin tone across the face and body. Think of it as a more powerful, more precise evolution of IPL – “broadband” light means it covers a wider spectrum, giving us greater accuracy and better results.
The treatment works via a gentle elastic band sensation, which cauterises the vessels and pigmentation. Your body’s lymphatic system then naturally clears the redness and pigment over time, leaving your skin more even-toned.
What makes BBL HEROic
Particularly exciting is its proven impact on cellular rejuvenation. A Stanford University study found that after a series of BBL treatments, thousands of ageing-related genes began behaving more like those found in younger skin essentially, the cells started acting more youthfully on a biological level. (Ref: “Rejuvenation of Gene Expression Pattern of Aged Human Skin by Broadband Light Treatment: A Pilot Study”, Journal of Investigative Dermatology, 2012/2013)
During the Treatment - Pain & Sensation
Most clients describe the sensation as gentle warmth, or something similar to a rubber band snap. BBL HEROic is generally very well-tolerated, and numbing cream is not typically required. In fact, the absence of numbing cream allows the laser to penetrate more effectively and maintain consistency across the treated area.
Downtime & What to Expect
Right after treatment, the skin may appear slightly pink and feel warm this usually settles within an hour or two. Minor swelling or puffiness can occur, particularly in more delicate areas, and a slight tingling or itching sensation is also common, which subsides within a day or two.
In the days following treatment, any pigmented spots or freckles will temporarily darken before drying up and flaking off naturally they may feel like coffee grounds sitting on the surface of the skin. It is important not to pick or rub at these; they will shed on their own. Pigmented lesions continue to darken and then fade over the following 7 – 14 days. This is the treatment working exactly as it should.
